Everton target Jesper Lindstrom might find it harder than most to win over the Goodison Park faithful.
The 24-year-old winger is a top target for the Toffees this summer but the anticipation around his arrival might be soured by his support of age-old rivals Liverpool.
As revealed by HITC, Everton are closing in on a deal for Jasper Lindstrom on an initial loan agreement with an option to buy.
He would become the third arrival at Goodison Park this summer after Everton completed the signings of Tim Iroegbunam and Jack Harrison.
The Denmark international currently plies his trade at Napoli, but he has struggled to settle in Italy with no goals or assists contributed for the Serie A side last season.
A move to Merseyside is now on the cards but based on his previous Liverpool comments he may struggle to fit in at Everton too.
Jesper Lindstrom reveals Liverpool support
Lindstrom could find himself going head-to-head with Liverpool in a fierce Merseyside derby next season, but he once admitted that he was a fan of the Reds.
As quoted by the Daily Mail, Lindstrom revealed in an interview last year that he is a fan of Liverpool but turned down a “dream” move to Anfield in favour of joining Napoli.
“It was Liverpool and I am a Liverpool supporter, so it would’ve been a madly fascinating experience, but would it have been an intelligent move?” He said.
“If I don’t play, then I may as well sit in front of the TV and watch them play there while I am at a different club. I am at an age now where I have to play football.”
Jesper Lindstrom at Everton next season
If Lindstrom does complete a move to Everton, then he has just added even more pressure on himself to perform.
The hatred between the two clubs is fierce and ex-Everton defender Ben Godfrey’s recent dig at Liverpool shows that the rivalry continues even after leaving the club.

After the Rafa Benitez debacle, patience at Everton for anyone associated with Liverpool is at an all-time low. He will be given his chance to perform, but his Liverpool ties might make it harder to appease Evertonians.
But ultimately, if Lindstrom arrives on Merseyside and hits the ground running for Sean Dyche’s side then his Liverpool allegiances will be quickly forgotten.
